Yunhye Choi
Yunhye is a passionate Costume Designer with extensive work experience in the UK and abroad.
She graduated from Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts, London in 2017 with a BA (Hons) in Costume Design.
Throughout her studies she gained experience in all aspects of Costume Design, and worked alongside other Designers, Artists and Makers, acquiring a diverse skill set. This time also allowed her to build up a strong network of UK based collaborators and future colleagues.
Since graduating and developing a career as an emerging Designer and Arts Practitioner, she has further developed her practical and professional skills, broadening her knowledge and expertise within the Theatre and Film Industries. She has worked with a diverse range of Artists and Companies and has ongoing projects and future work set out in the UK.
She is currently working on two projects with London based (International Theatre Designer and Artist), Jacqueline Gunn and Make a Scene, Short Courses in Set and Costume Design.

The Sun and the Moon Inside Out / 해와 달이 된 오누이 인사이드아웃
Project Summary
Toy series inspired by a Korean folktale ‘The Sun and the Moon’.
In the story of the Sun and the Moon, a Korean folktale, a tiger is featured as an invader who frightens a family of a mother, brother and sister. The story ends when the siblings are assigned to the Sun and the Moon giving equal light. The equal light represents coexistence. Meanwhile, there is an obvious contradiction between the past and the present in terms of tigers – they cannot threaten human beings anymore, but they are endangered and even mistreated. This project started with an Inside Out diorama box; the inside of the box shows the original folktale, whereas the new story of tigers is portrayed on the outside of the box. My project culminated with directly interactive objects, toys. The toys I have made, change depending on how the user controls them, asking questions about the real meaning of coexistence, who is endangered and who will be endangered in the future.

해와 달이 된 오누이 이야기 속에서, 호랑이는 오누이와 어머니를 잡아 먹으려하는 무서운 존재로 나타난다. 사람이었던 오누이가 세상에 공평한 빛을 내는 해와 달이 되면서 이야기는 끝이 나는데, 이것은 마치 이 세계의 공존을 반영하는 것 같다. 한편, 호랑이라는 등장인물은 과거와 현재의 분명한 모순을 더욱 극명하게 드러나게 한다 – 호랑이는 더 이상 사람을 위협하는 존재가 아니게 되었고, 멸종위기에 처했으며 심지어는 여전히 어딘가에서 악용되기까지 한다는 사실이다. 프로젝트는 인사이드 아웃(Inside Out) 모형 박스를 제작하는 것에서 시작되었다. 모형박스의 내부는 전래동화 원작의 내용을 담고 있는 반면, 상자를 뒤집으면 호랑이에 대한 새로운 이야기가 펼쳐진다. 이내 프로젝트는 보다 직접적으로 상호작용을 요구하는 물체인 장난감으로 끝을 맺는다. 조작함에 따라 달라지는 장난감을 통해서 우리는 공존의 진짜 의미가 무엇인지, 무엇이 위기에 처했으며 미래에는 누가 멸종위기에 놓이게 될지 질문하게 된다.
